What the White House Is Talking About:
Health care nail-biter. Will it or won’t it pass the House? Hunter has more details below.

What the White House Press Corps Is Talking About:
President Donald Trump returning to New York City for the first time as POTUS. He’ll meet later with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.

Trump’s First Foreign Trip:
For a man who reportedly isn’t fond of travel, Trump is certainly making the rounds. White House officials told CNN’s Jim Acosta this morning that Trump this month will visit Israel, the Vatican, Saudi Arabia, Belgium (for a NATO meeting) and Sicily, where he’ll attend the G7 Summit. Unclear if the first lady will join him, but we’ve reached out to the East Wing to inquire. The White House hasn’t confirmed it, but a report says that Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump will tag along for the Israeli leg.

Obama Presidential Center, Revealed:
Former President Barack Obama on Wednesday took people on a visual map-pointing tour of his new Obama Presidential Center, scheduled to open in four years on Chicago’s South Side. He announced the goals of the ginormous campus as well as a $2 million personal donation from him and Michelle Obama to a South Side summer jobs program being created by the Obama Foundation.

The New York Times Is OK When It’s About Ivanka:
On Wednesday, with religious leaders at the White House ahead of National Day of Prayer, Trump pointed out the big above-the-fold front page feature on his daughter.

Our Daily Melania/Fur-Free Edition:
After Wednesday’s whole thing with the “thank you" note for Pamela Anderson from Melania Trump about the faux fur coat she sent the first lady, I asked the White House what Melania’s stance on fur is. Her communications director, Stephanie Grisham, told me that FLOTUS does not wear fur. BREAKING. I’m happy for her but also sort of sad inside that images such as the one below are likely no more, so here’s a fur RIP #TBT.

Dress Like the (Former) First Lady:
OK, so I can’t find the amazing black-and-white dress Michelle Obama wore Wednesday in Chicago, but if you know, email me at

However, I did find the dress she wore in her first post-White House public appearance last week in Florida. It’s Lafayette 148, and it’s on sale at Saks right now for $328.80.

What Washington Is Talking About:
Today’s the day; the House is expected to vote on an Obamacare replacement bill. There was a mood change Wednesday night when Reps. Billy Long and Fred Upton (Kate Upton’s uncle), switched from “no" to “yes" after meeting with Trump at the White House, and Rep. Mark Meadows, chair of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, said only one member of the group opposes the bill.

What America Is Talking About:
That red swimsuit from Sunny Co Clothing. The retailer offered a free $64.99 Pamela Sunny Suit to people who reposted this photo on Instagram, and the promotion went viral, clogging feeds and annoying a nation.

Obama’s First Endorsement Since the 2016 Election:
Obama weighed in on the French presidential election today, backing the moderate Emmanuel Macron in a video over the far-right Marine Le Pen.

“He appeals to people’s hopes, and not their fears," Obama said. “I’m not planning to get involved in many elections now that I don’t have to run for office again, but the French election is very important to the future of France and to the values that we care so much about."

3 Things We Heard at Comey’s Hearing:
FBI Director James Comey’s nearly four-hour testimony Wednesday before the Senate Judiciary Committee made some news (he’ll testify before the House Intelligence Committee today, but it’s closed door). Here’s what stuck out to me:

  1. “It makes me mildly nauseous to think that we might have had some impact on the election."
  2. “Huma Abedin appears to have had a regular practice of forwarding emails to (then-spouse Anthony Weiner) for him to print out for her so she could deliver them to the secretary of state."
  3. Then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch’s tarmac “meeting with President (Bill) Clinton on that airplane was the capper for me. And I then said, ‘You know what? The department cannot, by itself, credibly end this.’ “

What the White House Thought of Kimmel:
Democrats were the first to weigh in on Jimmy Kimmel’s emotional monologue about health care and the surgery his newborn recently underwent, but White House press secretary Sean Spicer joined in Wednesday.

“We share that concern for the Kimmels’ child as well as any child that needs care," Spicer said during the briefing. “That’s why we’re fighting so hard for this."

Colbert “Would Change a Few Words":
In other political late-night news, Stephen Colbert has come under fire from both sides for his Monday tirade against Trump. Some on the left thought one of his jokes was homophobic, and some on the right thought his Trump attacks went too far generally. On Wednesday night he said he “would change a few words" if he had a do-over, but he stood by his monologue.

Miley’s Open-Minded with Trump Supporters:
She campaigned for Hillary Clinton in 2016, but Miley Cyrus, in an interview with Billboard, said she wants to be open when discussing politics with people who support Trump

“I like the way I think right now. But don’t Trump supporters like the way they think?" she said. “So I’ve also got to be open with the way I approach people with my opinions. That’s the only way to make real change."

She also has a new record in the works, per the interview, and the first single, “Malibu," is “gimmick-free pop-rock."

Baldwin Planning “SNL" Finale:
“Saturday Night Live" Trump impersonator Alec Baldwin told “Extra" he’ll be there for the show’s season finale May 20. “I’m going to do it then and hopefully go out with a bang," he said.

If You’re Into Star Wars and Politics. …
I hate “May the Fourth Be With You," but regardless of whether you’re celebrating, here’s a Tumblr I’m obsessed with that posts political “Star Wars" mashups.
